what does self respect mean?

what we can say about self respect . Is it self respect or self offense ? Because always we say that " for me self respect is more important than anything". so why we beg in front of people who really don't care about us . Always we decided that "I never cross the limit of my self respect , nothing is that much important than my self respect", but still we use our self respect to respect others. 

Even I also can't able to find right answer and solution for this , why so many times our self respect get fail in front of that unwanted things and peoples. We live in society where self respect is more important than anything , if we respect ourself then only people give us respect . But still we can't , do you know the reason behind it , because we always try to give respect and importance to people who never give us that much importance in their life , still we are following them to get our respect .But is it right way to take respect from that people ?

we are not paying attention to people who really care about us , who really having some good opinion about us. The basic human nature is , they are always looking for the things that keep them away from themself , and they can go to any level to get them, in that condition they lost their self respect.

so try to find our zone where we really feel good and happy . If we feel happy then whatever going surround us, we can't affected by them. 

Enjoy yourself as your ,and don't beg for your self respect in front of useless people who really don't care about us.
